Audrey E. Childers, 93, of Herrin, Illinois entered into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Parkway Manor in Marion, surrounded by her family.
Audrey was born on March 26, 1931 in Vienna, Illinois to Alice (Pickle) and Hewey Kincannon. She attended school at Taylor School in Vienna and later at Johnston City High School. Audrey was employed at Norge in Herrin, Olin Corporation, and retired from Smoler Brothers in Herrin.
She loved her church and was a 75-year member of First Christian Church of Herrin where she served as a Deaconess, member of the board, Church Trustee, Nursery Coordinator, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, and Youth Sponsor. Audrey accompanied the youth of the church on many trips and activities where she became affectionately known as "Mom" to dozens of young people. She had a heart for service.
Audrey's sense of humor, infectious smile, and her loving Christian example will be missed as well as her wonderful Sunday dinners. Au
