Margaret Elizabeth Bernhardt, age 93, of Marion, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 5:45 a.m. in Parkway Manor of Marion.
She was born on December 26, 1930 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Elisha and Florence Edna (Brown) Harrison.
Margaret was a graduate of Vandalia High School, and a few years later she was united in marriage to Charles Henry Bernhardt. The two were wed on August 23, 1952 in the St. Peter Lutheran Church, St. Peter, IL and together they shared over fifty-five years of marriage until he preceded her in death on March 16, 2008.
The Bernhardt family relocated to Marion in 1970. After moving to Marion they owned and operated the Fashion 220 Beauty Store in Marion for a few years. After a few years, Margaret went to work for Biederman's Furniture in Marion and then spent many years as the manager of the Hertz Rental Car office located in the Williamson County Airport in Marion.
