Elisabeth Sue James, age 53, of Alton, IL, and formerly of Marion, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2024 in Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on September 22, 1970 in Marion, IL, the daughter of Louis Melvin and Laura Emmaline (Vancil) James.
Elisabeth was a very special person who had many challenges in her life. She loved her family and above all, she loved The Lord. She enjoyed listening to music, particularly gospel music, and would listen to gospel songs for hours and hours. She is now in the arms of Jesus and is healthy and whole.
She is survived by her loving mother, Laura E. James of Marion, IL; brother, Paul Aaron James, and fiancé, Jennifer Marler, of Marion; nephew, Dakota Aaron James of Marion; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father, Louis.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
