Kevin Scott Smith, 60, of Johnston City, passed away at 12:40 a.m., Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Carbondale.
Kevin was born on April 3, 1964, in Benton, Illinois to the late Garry and Lois (Jones) Smith. He was united in marriage to Samantha Thompson on May 16, 1985, in Herrin, Illinois. They shared 39 years of marriage.
Kevin attended Marion High School and went on to get his welding certificate. Kevin worked at HD Supply in Herrin. He enjoyed fishing, going on hikes and loved playing pool with his son. He was a Veteran and served in the United States Army. Kevin loved his family very much. He loved spending time with his grandkids.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Samantha Smith of Johnson City; three children, Dustin Ray Mezo of Herrin, Kody Scott Smith of Johnston City, and Nicole (Brooke) Smith of Marion; seven grandchildren, Brenia, Gracelynn, Kamera, Lilly, Peyton, Araya, and Ou' Rene; two sisters, Kimberly Mayers (William) of Marion, Krystal (Jeremy) Mofield of Marion; mother
