Dorothy Jean Swalls, 85, of Herrin, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at her home in Herrin.
Dorothy was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.
Dorothy was born March 28, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph F. and Bertha (Saiebilski) Markus.
Dorothy married William R. "Bill" Swalls on April 6, 1957 in Corinth, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2019.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary & Scott Meadows of Herrin, IL; daughter-in-law, Debbi Cox and husband Jay of Carterville, IL; ten grandchildren, Jason Kern and wife Jacky, Stuart Swalls and wife Kelly, Stephanie Haust, Samantha Swalls and husband Timothy Black, Joshua Stricker, Sidney Johnson, Danielle Dunlap and husband Jay, Cassandra Meadows, Jacob Meadows and wife Ashlee, and Bethany Meadows; ten great-grandchildren, Reese, Vivian, Madilyn, Joseph, Norah, Olivia, Jonathan, Hannah, Jackson, and Ayla; and many nieces and nephews.
