James William Robinson, age 86, of rural Carbondale, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 3:15 p.m. in Deaconess Illinois Medical Center, Marion, IL.
He was born on December 17, 1938 in Marion, IL, a son to James Homer and Delilah (Campbell) Robinson.
He married Wanda Jane Craig on May 4, 1957 in Johnston City, IL. Together they shared over sixty-four years of marriage until she preceded him in death on October 4, 2021. James and Wanda had the kind of marriage that where you saw one, you usually saw the other, as they were rarely apart.
Early in his working career, James worked for Pepsi in sign maintenance. He later worked for E.T. Simonds Construction Company and other smaller contractors as a laborer for several years. He then worked as a coal miner for a total of 21 years, working at Freeman 4 Coal Mine near Pittsburg, IL, and after the mine closed, he worked at Brushy Creek Coal Mine near Galatia, IL, until his retirement in 1996.
